MISSION & HISTORY.
எழுத்தறிவித்தல்—Dharmapuri Student Welfare Program (DSWP) was found and directed under Nellikani Welfare Association in 2022 by Kaushik and Krishna Rathuryan, with the help of Nellikani’s board members. Having lived in Tamil Nadu for years, they have real experience on the everyday struggles students go through just to get a proper education. We want to help students in challenging situations overcome their problems and succeed! Thus, as part of the program, our mission is to improve student welfare in Dharmapuri and other underfunded areas in Tamil Nadu, especially when it comes to providing underserved students with tasty and nutritious meals and giving them access to educational resources like books through our library initiatives.
Nellikani Welfare Association was founded in April 2021 by a group of six like-minded and passionate friends. Inspired by Tamil heritage and culture, they started it to empower underprivileged students with education. Most of their efforts focused on giving these students scholarships, skill development, and valuable workshops/seminars. They have raised and given lakhs worth of scholarships! Nellikani Welfare Association’s efforts have been featured on the official social media accounts of GCE Dharmapuri, a Tamil Nadu government-run college for engineering, and My Dharmapuri, a registered NGO and public charitable trust and the #1 social activities group in Dharmapuri, with close to three lakh (3,00,000) followers. Nellikani Welfare Association is an officially registered charity with the Tamil Nadu government (REGD NO: SRG/ DHARMAPURI/10/2021)
With DSWP in 2022, Nellikani was able to branch out to other aspects of student welfare/education (rather than just focusing on scholarships/workshops). This includes student health & nutrition, quality food, and easy access to physical educational resources (eg. books)

OUR WORKS.

2022 - 2023: Created Senthil Nagar Library, Dharmapuri, where we raised some study resources (eg. stationary), equipment, and around 200 books, primarily through the generosity of Princeton Public Library (PPL) and individual donors, worth Rs. 2,80,000

2024: Expanded to Dharmapuri District Library for more visibility/traffic and transferred existing books and new donations to this library, where we supplied them with new steel book stands and equipment worth Rs. 20,000 as well

2025: Raised and spent around Rs. 1,15,000 worth of donations to give out 3,000 midday meals to underserved students in district government schools (Serva Seva School in Periya Kalakkadi village of Madhuranthakam region, Chengalpatu district w/ Nellikani Friends Trust, Nellikani Welfare Association’s sister nonprofit) & religious student patashalas, increase outreach, and design/renew our websites. We also raised stationary, around 100 books, and other educational resources worth Rs. 1,70,000 to supply local libraries. Thank you to the generosity of our school, the Hun School of Princeton, and individuals that took the time to donate for making this possible!
